Itinerary:
We'll depart from the John Deere in Athabasca at 5102 43 Street at 10:30 AM. Brent and I will probably drive up to Calling Lake on Friday night to plant his camper van there and then drive to the meeting spot from there on Saturday morning. You can do whatever you want for arrangements - drive up the day of; drive up the night before and camp at Athabasca; drive up the night before and camp at Calling Lake.

I will phone John Deere ahead of time and ask if we can leave some vehicles in their parking lot from Saturday morning 'til Sunday afternoon. If that doesn't work, there's lots of free residential parking across 50th Ave on 43rd Street.

Our route will be to ride from the John Deere in Athabasca to Calling Lake on highway 813 on Saturday (about 70km one-way). We'll stay overnight at Calling Lake (you'll need all camping gear), then ride back to Athabasca the next day.

Recommendations for camp ground are welcome!

Note that my intended route is still tentative. Alternately, instead of using 813, we might want to look at a route on Highway 2 - I'm still investigating and will do a road trip out there one of these days to scope it out. Note from Tourism@athabascacounty.com: Highway 2 is very nice too, probably has wider shoulders, and a little more traffic. Its is somewhat hilly and has many turns to it, which makes for interest, but visibility for oncoming and flowing traffic is lessened.
