Distance: ~9.7 km approx.
Elevation Gain: ~100 m

We'll start from the Peter Lougheed Visitors Centre and connect to the Penstock Loop trail after approx. 2 kms. The Penstock Loop snowshoe trail is well marked and crosses the Smith-Dorrien a couple of times. We will also be checking out the water pipe (penstock) to see the ice "sculptures".

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Take Hwy 1 west out of town. Go south on Hwy 40 for approx 56 km. Turn right onto the Kananaskis Lakes Trail just before the winter gate. Follow the signs to the Peter Lougheed Visitors Centre. See Peter Lougheed Map.
