Egypt Lake is a magical backcountry campground that leads to beautiful dayhikes with few hikers on the trails. The area has it all: lakes, waterfalls, a whistling pass, verdant meadows and moss. The area is absolutely gorgeous.

Day 1:
Backpack in, spend the afternoon and early evening setting up, visiting Egypt Lake and eating dinner.

Day 2:
Hike to Whistling Pass and Natalko Lake, a full day of moderate hiking

Day 3:
Visit Pharoh, Black Rock, Sphynx and Scrab Lakes plus waterfalls and a river, another full day of moderate hiking.

Day 4:
Backpack out.

Check out my facebook album of the trip (and the area was socked in by forest fire smoke that week).

Egypt Lake and surrounds is worth the mosquitos - Watkins worked very well for us and passes the "I-have-fragrance-allergies" sniff test. You've been warned. But it is soooo worth it.
