Ed's birthday hike was the first hike he had to cancel in 90 years. Join Legendary Ed, 9/10 of a century old, for his belated birthday hike.

From Paddy Flats, cross the highway and hook onto the trail heading west toward Sulphur Springs Trail. At the fork for Sulphur Springs and Elbow Valley Trails, turn right to take Sulphur Springs Trail through the forest. If you've heard that there are actual sulphur-smelling springs on this hike, forget about it. If they were there once, they're not anymore. Past where the trail crosses over Moose Mountain Road, you will be rewarded with an excellent view of several ranges. Further down, where the trail intersects Elbow Valley Trail, continue straight ahead to cross the highway and hike the Riverview Trail, where you'll find wonderful views of the river. There is no official trail from the end of Riverview back up the bank to Paddy Flats and our vehicles. A small amount of bushwhacking, patience and a sense of humour may be needed.

Est. 12 - 14 kms; 275 - 300 metre gain. Ref: Bragg Creek and Elbow Falls Gem Trek map.
