Club Events 2006: 2006-05-27: CCC - Music Appreciation Nite at Joel's

Blog Entries
We'll gather at 7:00 pm, and start the music at 7:30. Please don't be late, to avoid interruptions.\n

\nWe're going to try a different format for this series. You've got 15 minutes each, to do with as you please. The typical format would be to play something, talk about it briefly (before or after), then move on to the next piece. But you can write an essay about music and read it to us, use the whole time to play music if you're shy or have laryngitis, or bring an instrument and your voice, and perform your music live if you like. Just make it enlightening and entertaining!\n

\nWe'll take a short break halfway through to refill our glasses and grab a snack, then get back to the music. Afterwards, we'll sit around and discuss what we've heard.

This was a REALLY fun night, for me and hopefully for everyone else too. We each got our \"15 minutes of fame,\" taking a turn speaking about then playing our music. Everyone brought some really wonderful selections, including an amazingly wide variety! It was exciting and entertaining to hear people talk about what motivated them to choose their songs. \n

\nOne of the highlights of this event was when Scott pulled out his guitar and performed his songs LIVE for us! He even made a Name That Tune contest of it, though some of his choices were pretty easy. :o) He brought prizes for the winners. Lynda and Doug blew away the competition, but were nice enough to share the goodies!\n

\nNow I can't wait for the next one!\n
