  • The first one is Fantasia Aquatica, which has a family and relaxing atmosphere. It is located on the Tequisquiapan to Ezequiel Montes highway. It has affordable prices and is open daily from 9:00 -18:00
  • There is also the Termas del Rey park which is also located on the same highway. It is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9:00 to 18:00
  • Oasis is a water park with hot springs, a camping area, slides, a zip line, and a place to have a bonfire and eat delicious marshmallows. Prices range from 75 to 250 pesos per person. It is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9:00 to 18:00
General InfoCentro Geográfico de México en 1916$0.00As you wander through the colorful streets of Tequisquiapan, there’s one structure that definitely does not blend in with its surroundings. A typical example of a politician wanting to make his mark, President Venustiano Carranza passed through Tequeisquiapan in the early 1900s and decreed that the town of Tequis was at the center of Mexico. Looking at a map, it’s easy to tell that this is not true, but an industrious monument stands at the crossroads of Centenario and 5 de Mayo in this otherwise picturesque town.
General InfoCheese ProducersLa Biquette and Boconegra$0.00A short drive outside of Tequisquiapan are two fantastic cheese producers that you can visit. La Biquette is an artisanal goat cheese creamery with fantastic cheeses. Boconegra is a larger cow and sheep cheese producer that also has a nice restaurant above the cheese and local produce shop.
General InfoFood to try$0.00One common type of merchandise, especially in the main square are sweet breads, dried fruit, fruits in syrup and other sweets. One unique sweet of the town is crystallized nopal cactus.

Today we took a long (4+ hour) bus ride from Jalpan through Sierra Gorda to Tequisquiapan. I had a convo today with Dawn (from Atlanta) and she might come join us in Puerto Vallarta for a few days!! Cool! She’s never been to Mexico before.

I booked most of our AirBnBs for this trip a long time ago to make sure I could score the best ones. Well Tequisquiapan blew our minds today. ‘Grandpa’s House’, as it’s called, is a heritage home with so much charm and beauty I don’t know if we deserve to sully it with our Riff and Raff presence!
