| Travel | Bus | City Bus to San Jose | To get the public bus for San Jose from the airport: Exit the terminal and cross the street toward the parking garage. Turn left and follow the sidewalk around to the street. Turn right. Walk about 20 meters - this is where the bus stops are located. There are two buses that travel routinely between Alajuela (where the airport is located) and San Jose: Tuasa (big red bus) and Station Wagon Alajuela (not really a station wagon-- they just call it that). These buses will show up every few minutes. You may be asked if you want a taxi. A taxi from there to San Jose will be in the neighborhood of $25 so if you want to ride the bus for $1, just say no or just shake your head no. When the bus stops, just say to the driver \"San Jose?\" and he will say yes or no. (Sometimes they make other stops along the way or go to Heredia first.) You will pay the driver in colones - you can get colones at one of the ATM's at the airport. Try to get a multiple of 5,000 colones from the ATM - such as 25,000 colones - so you don't have to give the driver a bigger bill for a small fare. A 10,000 colon note is about $20 and the fare is just under $1. | Travel | Bus | To Aguas Zarcas | $4USD to Quesada, then second bus to Aguas Zarcas The DIRECTO to Ciudad Quesada leaves from the Parada de bus San Carlos, which is located in the North/West section of San Jose. This must be the same terminal you found. It takes 2 1/2 hr and doesn't stop til Quesada bus station ($ 4). The bus leaves almost every hour, or we heard, til full. From Ciudad Quesada you can take several busses, that go in our direction. Bus to Aguas Zarcas, Pital, (you have to get off at centro), Venecia, Rio Quarto, Puerto Viejo buses can stop and let you out at the Puente Rio Negritos (you have to specifically ask the driver to do that). From there you go over the bridge, turn right, walk straight 100 m along the river, go through our gate and a few more steps up to your guest house.
