I’m crying with relief. I was told that since Lovely NP is away right now I would have to see Obnoxious D today. When I got there, though, I didn’t have him. I had a substitute nurse practitioner (Lovely NP2) and she was so amazing. And she’s given me a Rx for something that will help prevent heart damage, which has been one of my biggest concerns.\n

Lovely NP2 is one of the authors of an article in Journal of Clinical Oncology titled \"Multidisciplinary Approach to Novel Therapies in Cardio-Oncology Research (MANTICORE 101-Breast): A Randomized Trial for the Prevention of Trastuzumab-Associated Cardiotoxicity\". A very high percentage of people who get Herceptin for the HER2+ breast cancer develop heart damage. Lovely NP2 explained that Herceptin works against HER2+ cancer by binding to the HER2 receptors on breast cancer cells, but it ALSO binds to the HER2 receptors on the heart (which are good cells). I feel very fortunate to have seen someone so knowledgeable about prevention of this heart damage!
