| I’ve had some gear changes on this
trip. The most important one being
the bicycle. Janis the Jamis is a fine
bicycle, and the grip shifters are a
godsend. I don’t have the
excruciating injuries on my thumbs
and wrists like from the usual trigger
shifters.
My biggest problem with her is the hearing. Her low gears are not low enough for hill climbing and there’s a huge jump from first gear to second gear and then not much difference in subsequent gears. I’ve noticed that my physical abilities have dropped since my last tour. That’s to be expected since I’ve had over two years of inactivity and cancer treatment during that time. My strength has been impacted for sure. I didn’t have great upper body strength before but now it’s dismal. And I think my distance ability has dropped by maybe 30%. | ||
