Turn left and follow the sidewalk around to the street. Turn right. Walk about 20 meters - this is where the bus stops are located. There are two buses that travel routinely between Alajuela (where the airport is located) and San Jose: Tuasa (big red bus) and Station Wagon Alajuela (not really a station wagon-- they just call it that). These buses will show up every few minutes. You may be asked if you want a taxi. A taxi from there to San Jose will be in the neighborhood of $25 so if you want to ride the bus for $1, just say no or just shake your head no. When the bus stops, just say to the driver \"San Jose?\" and he will say yes or no. (Sometimes they make other stops along the way or go to Heredia first.) You will pay the driver in colones - you can get colones at one of the ATM's at the airport. Try to get a multiple of 5,000 colones from the ATM - such as 25,000 colones - so you don't have to give the driver a bigger bill for a small fare. A 10,000 colon note is about $20 and the fare is just under $1. If you decide to get something to eat either at the airport or across the street from the bus stop, you can pay in colones and use the change for the bus. | |||
