Itinerary:

Horseshoe Canyon, which gets its name from its horseshoe shape, is approximately 3 kilometres long extending from Highway 9 to Kneehill Creek area. This miniature 'Grand Canyon' viewpoint shows the variations of volcanic and sedimentary strata in the canyon. We'll hike in approximately 4 or 5 km one way, following the creek beyond the canyon until the trail fizzles in the ever- thickening forest. Trail is rough/steep in places, expect some exploration off the main trails and to search out a few geocaches as well.

We'll choose an alternate location if it's raining on Friday or has recently rained as the bentonite clay gets slippery. But we are heading out somewhere no matter the weather.

We'll plan to be back at carpool by about 5:00 PM. NOTE THE ODDBALL CARPOOL LOCATION CENTRALIZED NEAR HWY 1 AND HWY 2.

Required Items to Bring:
