The Chickadee Valley lies right on the Great Divide, in between Boom Mountain and Mount Whymper. There is no official (or even unofficial) trail here and you won't find the name "Chickadee Valley" on your topo map. The entire route is incredibly scenic with views of Boom Mountain and Mount Whymper on either side of you, and Storm Mountain behind you across the highway.

Cross the highway from the far end of the parking lot near the "Leaving Banff National Park" sign. Continue beyond the sign and enter the woods there. You soon come to a small clearing where your trail turns left to take you in between the two mountains (there may be a side trail taking you towards Boom Mountain - turn away from that to head into the valley between the mountains). Soon you pick up the stream bed and you follow that all the way in. Your first 500m or so will be a gentle climb, and after that the valley flattens out all the way to the meadow. The valley is wide, and you follow a stream bed to the meadow near the end of the valley where Whymper and Boom come together. The stream meanders back and forth across the valley, but never comes close enough to either mountain to put you into any of their avalanche chutes. Just stay aware of your surroundings and stick with the stream to ensure you don't accidentally get into an avalanche area.

Note that Mar 2 is the date selected for this trip, but if we need to postpone for any reason (i.e., weather conditions), May 9 will be the backup date.
