This will be a weekend in the heart of the rocky mountains. We will be spending 3 days and 3 nights at the HI-Shunda Creek Hostel in Nordegg.

This will be our base for the weekend, leaving each day to pursue day hikes, snow shoeing, XC skiing etc. We will have no formal agenda but if you have an interest in a specific area, let me know and I can try to coordinate with others having the same interest.

On Friday and Saturday nights we will have pot luck suppers. We will split into two groups of five for each night . These are always great mixers to kick off the festivities.

We will be staying in a co-ed dorm cabin. Bedding will be provided and sleeping bags are NOT permitted.

Required Items to Bring:

- Overnight items
- Towel (for showers/hot tub)
- Food for entire weekend
- A waiver if you haven't yet signed one for 2007
- Hiking boots
-Winter clothing

Recommended Items to Bring:
- BYOB
- Bathing suit (they have an outdoor hot tub)
- Runners
- Hiking Guide: "The David Thompson Highway"
- Board Games
- Musical instrument(s)
- Fuzzy slippers (or other house shoes for in the dining hall)
- Head lamp or flashlight
- Earplugs (to protect you from nighttime evils such as party noises and snoring)

Head south on Highway 2 to Red Deer, then west on Highway 11 through Sylvan and Rocky Mountain House. More detailed directions will be given out at carpool (or emailed if you are not meeting at carpool)

Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $192.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.32, effective Friday, April 26, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.

Notes:

- Registration is NOT COMPLETE until you've signed up and paid by the registration cut off date. The money must be in the AC's possession by that date. No exceptions.
- When a minimum group size appears, this is to let you know that the event will be cancelled with refunds to those who have already paid, if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. For any events where AC needs a minimum number of participants, there will be absolutely no refunds of money if you or your guest(s) cancel.
