Itinerary:
Elastigirl is back! Although I'm not a great skier, I want to work on my skills and this will be the first xc ski of the year so let's take our time...we have all year! I've done this trail before and it's a beautiful trackset trail. The event is geared towards confident beginner to intermediate classic x-skiers who are not in a hurry and enjoy a relaxed pace with stops.

Banff National Park has recently updated their trail maximums for group size to 10. Therefore, we are setting our group max at 12 and if there are more than 12 with interest for this trip then a 2nd group will need to be organized.

Trailhead: Lake Minnewanka parking lot Description: Follows a section of the closed Lake Minnewanka road, then turns up the Cascade valley on an old fire road; often in good condition. This is a pleasant ski with good views and a fun downhill run on the return trip. 6.4 km to the bridge over the Cascade River - a good destination for a shorter trip. We will ski for a couple of hours, stop for lunch in a sunny spot, and return the way we came. Faster folks are welcome to go on further, but we do enjoy your company too :-)

Estimated total distance: 14 km one way - oh my! depending on how far we ski out...
