UPDATE AT JAN 18 - TEMPS GOOD FOR SATURDAY, TALKED TO PARKS OFFICE, BOOM LAKE AVALANCHE THREAT VERY LOW. Unless it is below -12 in Banff Saturday morning, this event will go ahead.

We'll head into Lake Louise and eat our lunch there and tour the ice sculpture competition.

We shall then snowshoe at Boom Lake

Required Items to Bring:
- Snow Shoes - Poles (with snow baskets) - Hiking boots + gaiters, or winter boots - Rentals are available, if required, at U of C Outdoor Centre. - easy to eat lunch & snack items, water or warm beverages - layered clothing!

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Follow the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy. 1) from Calgary to the Lake Louise turn-off. Follow the signs for Lake Louise and Park at the Chateau. Walk up the short path to the lakeshore - you will see the boathouse to your left and the Chateau to your right. Wait there for the group.

To Boom Lakes: Take Highway #1 west to Castle Junction. Take the Radium hot Springs exit and take highway #93 south for about 7 km. The trailhead parking is at Boom Creek Picnic Area.
